A strong foundation

A Strong Islamic Foundation for the Next Generation

Growing up as a young Muslim today brings wonderful opportunities — and important questions.

Children learn about the world around them at school, online and through their friends. Alongside their academic education, they also need a strong understanding of their faith, values and identity.

Our academy provides a structured space where children can learn about Islam, ask questions, develop good character and gradually build a deeper understanding of their faith.

Our aim is simple

To help young Muslims grow into knowledgeable, confident and thoughtful Muslims.

About us

Why We Started

Muslim children today grow up part of two worlds.

They attend school locally, take part in their communities and grow up in a rapidly changing digital world.

At the same time, their parents want them to understand Islam, develop good character and maintain a meaningful connection with their faith.

We created Kalam Institute to bridge these needs.

Our goal is not simply to teach children facts about Islam. Our goal is to help them understand their faith and carry it confidently into their lives.

Our vision

Our Vision

To nurture a generation of young Muslims who are:

  • Knowledgeable about their faith
  • Grounded in Islamic values
  • Confident in their Muslim identity
  • Thoughtful in their approach to difficult questions
  • Respectful towards others
  • Contributing positively to their communities

Why our academy?

More Than a Weekend Class

We don't want Islamic education to be something children simply attend and forget. Our programme is designed as a continuous educational journey, with students progressing through carefully structured levels year after year.

Structured Learning

A clear programme with defined levels, topics and learning objectives.

Small Classes

Classes are intentionally kept small so teachers can engage with individual students.

Established Curriculum

Our primary and secondary programmes are based on established Islamic education curricula.

Interactive Teaching

Lessons include discussion, activities, quizzes and opportunities for students to participate.

Regular Assessment

Quarterly assessments and annual examinations help students and parents understand progress.

Learn Anywhere

Live classes are delivered online, with recordings available for revision and missed lessons.

Our Programmes

Two Programmes. One Educational Journey.

From the first foundations of Islamic knowledge to deeper teenage Islamic Studies, our programmes are designed to grow with your child.

Secondary Islamic Studies

As children grow older, Islamic education needs to grow with them. Our five-year secondary programme develops knowledge and understanding across the major areas of Islamic Studies while gradually encouraging students to think critically about their faith and the world around them.

How our classes work

Learning Together, Wherever You Are

Our classes are delivered online through Zoom, allowing Muslim families anywhere to access structured Islamic education without travelling to a physical centre.

01

Before class

Students have access to the relevant learning materials and are prepared for the week's topic.

02

During class

Teachers explain the topic, engage students through questions and discussion, and use activities and quizzes to reinforce learning.

03

After class

Students can revisit the lesson recording and complete any assigned revision or activities.

04

Throughout the year

Students participate in regular quizzes, quarterly assessments, annual examinations, revision activities and progress monitoring.

Small class size

Small Classes. Better Engagement.

We intentionally keep our classes small.

We want students to be participants in their education — not simply listeners.

Our teaching approach

Learn. Understand. Reflect. Apply.

We believe Islamic education should go beyond memorising information.

  1. Stage 1

    Learn

    Acquire authentic Islamic knowledge.

  2. Stage 2

Understand what they are learning and why it matters.

  3. Stage 3

    Reflect

Think about how Islamic teachings relate to their lives.

  4. Stage 4

    Apply

Put their knowledge and values into practice.

One academic year · approx. 35 weeksIllustrative schedule
All year

Fun quizzes

Short, engaging quizzes throughout the year help students revise and reinforce their learning.

Each term

Quarterly assessments

Students complete structured assessments approximately once each term.

Year end

Annual examination

At the end of the academic year, students complete an annual examination covering the year's learning.

Completion

Certificate

Students who complete the programme receive an annual certificate of completion.

Recordings

Missed a Class? Keep Learning.

Life happens. Family commitments, holidays, illness or other circumstances may occasionally prevent a student from attending live. That's why our lessons are recorded.

Registered students can access recordings for revision and to catch up on missed lessons. Your child's learning doesn't have to stop when they miss a session.

A message from our Director

A Word to Parents

Assalamu alaikum,

Dear parents and guardians,

Through social media and screens, our children are exposed every day to ideas and lifestyles that conflict with Islam, often before they have the knowledge to question them. Many are quietly losing their sense of identity: unsure of their faith, carrying doubts with no one to ask, and seeing Islam as something their family does rather than something they truly own.

Our aim is to give every child a faith rooted firmly enough to stand strong in this ever-changing world.

At Kalam Institute, we build that foundation through a clear understanding of what Muslims believe and why, a living connection with the Qur'an and Sunnah, and good character. Our hope is that every student grows up proud of their identity, practising their deen without hesitation and living by it at home, at school and online.

You are our partners in this journey, and we will keep you informed every step of the way. We ask Allah to make this a source of blessing for your family, and I look forward to welcoming your child, in sha Allah.

With warm regards and duas,

Dr. Zubair MaalickDirector, Kalam Institute
